Polygonal Wildlife Series
Digital Illustration | Adobe Illustrator

This series began as a personal exploration while I was first learning Adobe Illustrator. I challenged myself to create stylized, low-poly illustrations using only the Pen and Eyedropper tools. What started as a technical exercise quickly became a creative ritual. I found the process of tracing and color sampling to be incredibly meditative.

Each piece starts with a reference image placed as a base layer. I choose subjects primarily for their color palette and texture, gravitating toward vibrant birds for their natural geometry. From there, I hand-draw each polygon shape and sample color directly from the reference to maintain organic variation.

Depending on the complexity and level of detail, each illustration can take anywhere from a few hours to several weeks. To date, the series includes birds, flowers, and mammals — all unified by the polygonal technique and a focus on natural form.

This project not only helped me build a strong foundation in Illustrator but also honed my patience, precision, and eye for color.
